MMXII December 18,  2021 UTC+14: Banking:   Welcome to my Journal. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to everyone!  I pray for everyone’s well being.    Recent events with Insurance inside BBVA has caused me to think.  There are benefits to good insurance and I do not need to be reminded of them.  I do not want to be used as a sounding board by sales people whom  I do not have a relationship with. However where business is done in this world, business must continue.

And so I was thinking.  Why  do we not take advantage of our marketing of credit cards and add new small insurance for free for every credit holder that we have in every bank.   Even free, it has be approved by the customer.  Once we have an insurance customer, by way of their credit card, we can offer our customer an upgrade for a small fee and add it to their annual fee.  But the customer has to approve everything in person and not by phone.   This will boost our sales in insurance and credit cards.  This should not be done by phone.  It should be a slow non aggressive program which is going to be around forever.

Customer relations makes sales. In banking, sales should be the like a garnish on your favorite plate of  food, because the customer is already ours. We have excellent salespeople in credit cards and in person.  I have met and got to know many of them. A likable well dressed person, is more likely to succeed in customer relations than an aggressive person, who is not seen.  Sales and marketing should be approached as strengthening customer relationships.  And whether their answer be yes or no, our client  should be reassured.   Doing business in person during the news and information emergency and even afterwards is preferable, especially in banking and insurance.    Bankers & Insurance companies have my personal assurance that this will succeed more than aggressive telephone sales with people we cannot see.

In places like supermarkets or stores where we have a banking and sales presence always make sure to keep the same people working, so the community who shops there comes to know the sales people and trust the sales people  as part of community which has their best interest in mind.  Sales is always about good personal relationships and never about aggression.  From a management standpoint our relationships with sales people in person should also demonstrate a desire to foster a good relationship with those who work with us and for us.
